Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management

With the current trend of rapid globalization, Vietnam has a lot of advantages in developing logistics services and a great potential to become the center of logistics and supply chain in the region and in the world. However, the human resources in logistics are currently perceived as inexperienced and in need of professional training. The number of trained experts in this field is not enough to meet the sector’s demands for development. According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, there are currently 34,249 enterprises operating in the logistics industry; by 2030, the demand for human resources will have reached 2.2 million workers, but the current number can support only 10% of the entire industry.

Program Insights

The Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management at SIU was designed in accordance with the standards of Logistics & Supply Chain Management programs in American universities (including University of North Texas - one of the leading research universities in the field of logistics).

The program provides general knowledge of economics along with further training in soft skills, such as negotiation, presentation, time management, strategy and decision making, etc. to help learners reach the managerial or leadership positions in domestic and multinational enterprises.

In order to train students to acquire a professional foundation, excellent command in foreign languages and technology, autonomous learning and researching, creativity, and flexibility in combining theory and practice to solve problems, SIU has partnered with reputable companies in the field of logistics and supply chain management, the most prominent of which is Saigon Newport Corporation, providing opportunities for students to intern at Cat Lai Port, Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, etc.

Career Prospects

The field of Logistics has made great and promising growth in the labor market. According to Vietnam Logistics Whitebook 2018 (Vietnam Logistics Business Association), there are currently about 4,000 professional enterprises in Vietnam operating in logistics industry, of which 54% are located in Ho Chi Minh City. The demand for human resources in logistics is huge.

In addition to the prospect of self-growth, high income, and dynamic working environment, graduates with the Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from SIU have the chance to be exposed to diverse sectors, since Logistics has many small subfields. As a result, students will learn about different industries, their unique functions, and the links in international and domestic supply chains.
