REGISTRATION FOR THE SEMINAR 2019

AN ACTIVATOR'S GUIDE TO STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING
This seminar will look to demystify, through practical examples, what it means to truly be a goal-driven student-centered guide. According to experts like John Hattie, the most effective educators make learning happen through activation. An activator gives meaningful feedback; sets high expectations and supports students to meet those expectations; and tests frequently but uses the formative knowledge from those tests to guide the teaching and learning process. Underpinning all these things is a view of the classroom as a student-centered, forward-looking space where learning and thinking happens, and classroom management problems are minimized.

UNBRIDGED GAPS BETWEEN WHAT AND HOW HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS TEACH VS. WHAT STUDENTS TRULY NEED IN COLLEGE AND BEYOND
This seminar will help participants identify and analyze all the foundational gaps between what high school teachers have been trained to teach and how they have taught till now versus what students truly need to survive and thrive in any college and professional setting. On that ground, recommendations will be made regarding how high school teachers work around contextual constraints of the education system to innovate from within their own classrooms and/or their school systems.
